Three of the DCLA Libraires are taking food donations to help those in need.

See our list below for some of the most requested items.

Non-perishable food

  • Canned protein: Tuna, chicken, and salmon are consistently in high demand.

  • Canned vegetables and fruit: Items with low sodium and fruit packed in juice or water are preferred.

  • Staples: Pasta, rice, and dry beans are versatile and filling.

  • Soups and stews: Hearty, low-sodium options that can be a complete meal are needed.

  • Peanut butter: A high-protein, shelf-stable favorite.

  • Breakfast items: Cereal and oatmeal are popular for all ages.

Other common requests

  • Shelf-stable milk: Because fresh milk is difficult to stock, powdered or UHT milk is a valuable donation.

  • Personal care items: Diapers, baby wipes, and feminine hygiene products are essential but often overlooked.

  • Household goods: Toilet paper, soap, and other hygiene products are also in high demand.

  • Spices and condiments: Items like oil, salt, pepper, and other spices can make a huge difference in making a simple meal more flavorful.
